![]() That’s different from something like “Bachelor in Paradise.” The idea of new people coming in is not a new idea, right? It’s been done. So first of all, it’s a competition, so it’s dating plus competing. The thing that differentiates this show is that the participants are really in control. ![]() How do you feel about the comparisons to “Bachelor in Paradise”?Īnytime you do a relationship show, this one’s compared to that one. So you’ve worked with people from Bachelor Nation before, like Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon. ![]() I don’t know if we’re going to add a reunion on top of the ending. Will you do a reunion or some sort of after-show? It wasn’t like we could know or steer which people would come in or get chosen or match.ĭo you want to do more seasons in the future? We don’t control the narrative or the storyline so when we would put people up on the board, whoever the winners are picked. We kind of rolled the dice and then everyone else was sort of up for grabs. I think we picked the group that we thought was lively and interesting. It is certainly not exact science by any stretch. How did you decide who would start in the house versus who came in later? These are people who have some familiarity with what everybody is up to. There’s this community developed, which is really interesting to tap into. They’ve communicated in person or on social media. But one of the inspiration points for this show is the fact that so many people actually know, or certainly know of, one another. The idea was that when the pair would go into the boardroom, they would discuss who their options were. Many of them were unaware of who might or might not have been up for consideration. I think they were in different hotels, and they weren’t supposed to be fraternizing with one another. When someone would leave the house, where would they go and would they be with other eliminated contestants? I was down there for most of the entirety of the shoot. With Netflix, you have to give a little extra lead time. Since the cast never knows who could be arriving next, many also could be doing everything in their power to match up, only for the chance to date someone else.įollowing the first four episodes, Coelen answers every burning question about the series. Well, maybe not, but it certainly is for the Wahlberg-McCarthys.Created by Kinetic CEO Chris Coelen, “Perfect Match” is a combination of a dating show and some friendly (and very flirty) competition. You know what they say though, the second time's a charm. Meanwhile, Wahlberg has starred on the CBS drama Blue Bloods since 2010 while juggling tour dates with New Kids on the Block. McCarthy has a Sirius XM show among a number of other business ventures, like her Blondie line of pre-mixed cocktails. ![]() This is a feat considering the pair's busy Hollywood schedule. Perhaps the biggest secret to their successful marriage is the fact that they always put their relationship first - especially before their professional lives. McCarthy had a similar perspective: "It's not like we never have problems, but we know if it's an opportunity to look inside and say, 'Does this remind me of something from my past that I need to work on?'" ![]() In an interview with ET Canada, Wahlberg admitted that he "had no idea how much better" his second marriage "would actually be." He credited his satisfaction with the fact that the couple constantly work on their relationship. There was supposedly never any feud, and Mark even sent some good vibrations (Sorry.) via Twitter on the big day: "Congratulations and so happy for you both today." Mark's daughter's birthday was the weekend of Donnie's wedding, and in fact, Donnie was absent from Mark's wedding because he was working. According to the Boston Globe, Durham's zinger went like this: "Don't u think after age 25 it might be strange for a woman to dye her hair pink, purple, green or any color of that sort?#needattention?" (McCarthy's hair was pink at this point.) Donnie, the world's second most prolific celebrity tweeter, saw it before the attempt to bury it and fired back: "Imagine the depth of pain somebody must be in, to be unkind to another human being." Durham quickly apologized, but the burn, coupled with the wedding no-show, continued to make tongues wag.ĭonnie tried to clear the whole thing up during a Howard Stern (via AOL) appearance, explaining that he and Mark have such crazy work schedules that they prioritize what little free time they have for family. ![]()
